NEMA Participation Expectations

This describes the expectations for NEMA volunteers on a continuing basis. Each of the units may have additional or different requirements and expectations.

NEMA Participation Expectations

Continued participation in NEMA as a volunteer is contingent on achieving participation expectations. The specifics of the expectations are different for each unit. Each unit will have varying participation expectations due to the different role responsibilities for each unit. The expectations stated in the documentation for each unit, where different, override the general expectations listed here. The unit or group documentation lists specifics for each of these categories.

  • Attend a minimum number of scheduled meetings each year
  • Maintain minimum training standards
  • Participate in call outs, weather operations and special events appropriate to the selected unit.
  • A goal of 40 hours per year total participation

NEMA volunteers are expected to not have any other emergency response responsibilities that would interfere with their ability to respond to a NEMA call out. This also means that the volunteer must have no conflicts between units within NEMA.

The specific expectations for each units are included in each unit’s description.
